Vertigo can make it feel as though you or the room around you is spinning, moving, or tilting even when you are standing still. It can range from a mild inconvenience to a condition that significantly affects balance, walking, driving, work, and everyday activities. Some people may also experience nausea, difficulty focusing, ringing in the ears, hearing changes, fatigue, or problems maintaining balance.
Vertigo is different from simply feeling lightheaded or faint. Because dizziness and balance problems can have many possible causes, it is important to understand what type of symptoms you are experiencing before deciding on treatment. Inner-ear conditions, migraines, medications, neurological issues, circulation problems, previous injuries, and other health conditions may all contribute to vertigo or dizziness.
At McKenney Chiropractic, our team reviews your symptoms, health history, previous injuries, neck movement, and other musculoskeletal factors that may be relevant. In some cases, neck-related dysfunction or previous trauma may contribute to dizziness or balance concerns, but chiropractic care is not appropriate for every cause of vertigo.
Our goal is to determine whether your symptoms appear to have a musculoskeletal component and whether chiropractic care may be appropriate as part of your overall treatment plan. When necessary, we may recommend that you seek additional evaluation from another healthcare provider.
If your vertigo is sudden, severe, or accompanied by difficulty speaking, facial drooping, weakness, severe headache, fainting, chest pain, or loss of coordination, seek immediate medical attention.
If recurring dizziness or vertigo is affecting your daily life, our Belleview team can help evaluate your symptoms and discuss the appropriate next step.
